King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) is a public university located in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. It was established in 1963 and is one of the leading institutions in the region, particularly known for its emphasis on petroleum and minerals engineering and sciences. KFUPM offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs in various fields, including engineering, computer science, business, and the sciences.

They has a reputation for producing highly qualified professionals who contribute significantly to the fields of petroleum engineering, geology, geophysics, and other related disciplines.

KFUPM Research Scholarship is an initiative by KFUPM , in which every year thousand of students have been selected from different parts of the world. these students avail free of cost education at KFUPM and much more benefits.

KFUPM Research Scholarship Program 2024:

Currently Aerospace Engineering department of KFUPM is offering scholarship for Masters and PhD studies. They are fully funded scholarships and students from the field of Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics and similar fields are eligible to apply for this research scholarship.

Masters of science in Aerospace Engineering:

The Aerospace Engineering Department offers a Graduate Program leading to a Master of Science (MS) in Aerospace Engineering. The program focuses on academic excellence as well as the professional development of graduate students. The students are expected to demonstrate competence and creativity in a variety of professional requirements. 

The graduate courses are designed to provide the student with the opportunity to deepen and broaden his knowledge base in the respective subjects and motivate him to sharpen his skills in problem solving, creative thinking, research, technical report writing and presentation. The graduate student is also provided with opportunities to improve his skills in conducting experiments for the validation of analytical and computational models.

Eligibility Criteria:

The minimum requirements for KFUPM Research Scholarship Program for Masters is as below:

• A four-year Bachelor’s (BS) Degree in engineering or science from a recognized institution with a major in the proposed field or evidence of suitable background for entering the proposed field.
• A Grade-Point Average (GPA) of 3.00 or higher on a scale of 4.00 or equivalent (For Scholarship Applicants) or 2.50 or higher on a scale of 4.00 or equivalent (For Non Scholarship Applicants).
• Completion of TOEFL with a minimum score of 520 (PBT), 190 (CBT) or 70 (IBT). The TOEFL score must be sent directly to the College of Graduate and Interdisciplinary Studies (KFUPM code is 0868). IELTS is also acceptable (min 6.0).
• Two letters of recommendation, preferably from the faculty who taught the applicant university-level courses [to be submitted through the online recommendation system].
• Satisfactorily meeting any additional departmental or university admission requirements.

Doctor of Philosophy in Aerospace Engineering :

The Department of Aerospace Engineering has well-established graduate programs leading to the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Aerospace Engineering. The PhD program allows the student to focus on one of the following tracks:

(1) Aerodynamics & Propulsion

(2) Aerospace Structure and Materials

(3) Flight Dynamics & Autonomous Control

(4) Space Systems

 The objectives of each track are to prepare graduates to advance their careers in academia, government, or industry, conduct original research, continue learning, adapt to new technologies, and possess the skills necessary for leadership positions.

Eligibility Criteria:

The minimum requirements for KFUPM Research Scholarship Program for PhD is as below:

• Have completed a Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
• Have superior academic records with a minimum Master’s cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3 (on a 4.0 scale).
• Have taken the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and have an acceptable score on both quantitative and verbal sections. Exceptions will be allowed based on KFUPM rules.
• Submit a complete application package before the deadline specified in the University catalog.
• An update CV (See Sample)
• International applicants whose primary language is not English must also achieve the minimum score requirement of TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Test System) as required by the University.
• Core courses can be substituted by equivalent elective courses for students who got their MS degree from the Aerospace Engineering department at KFUPM.
