Introduction:

The University of South Wales (USW) is a public university in Wales, United Kingdom. It was formed in 2013 through the merger of the University of Glamorgan and the University of Wales, Newport. The university has campuses located throughout South Wales, including in Cardiff, Newport, and Pontypridd.

USW offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs across various disciplines, including arts, humanities, sciences, engineering, business, health, and social sciences. About University of South Wales Scholarships:

The University of South Wales offers a range of generous scholarships for self-funding international students. You will be automatically considered for one of these awards when we receive your application. You do not need to make a separate application and confirmation of the scholarship will be included in your offer letter. All scholarships are applied for every year of study at the University.

You will receive confirmation of any scholarship award with your offer letter. Applicants must pay the minimum deposit stipulated in the offer letter by the date stated on the Acceptance Form in order to secure their scholarship.

Types of Scholarships 2024:

1)International Office Scholarships:

International Office Scholarships worth up to £2,000 are available for students who are self-funding their studies. You will be automatically be consider for one of these awards when we receive your application. 

Undergraduate (including top-ups): up to £1,500

Postgraduate: up to£2,000

2)Chancellors International Development Scholarships:

International Development Scholarships of £2,500 are available for students from the following regions, for undergraduate and postgraduate courses:

  • Africa
  • Latin America
  • South Asia
  • South East Asia
  • Central Asia and Turkey
  • Caribbean
  • Lebanon
  • Norway

This scholarship replaces the standard undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships. Higher National Diploma students and Foundation Degree students are not eligible for the Chancellor’s International Development Scholarship.

3)EU Scholarships:

Our Undergraduate and Postgraduate EU Scholarship scheme offers a scholarship on the international tuition fees for EU students joining us in academic year 2023-24. All EU students will qualify for this award and the scholarship award will ensure that the tuition fees paid do not exceed the amount being paid by Home students for the duration of study.

4)USW international students progressing to Masters:

Self-funding USW international graduates who have successfully completed a top-up degree or any other undergraduate degree involving a minimum of one academic year of on campus studies could be eligible for a Progression Fee Discount of £6,000. You will be automatically consider for one of these awards if you have graduated or are due to graduate from a USW Bachelor award when we receive your application. You do not need to make a separate application and confirmation of the fee discount will be includ in your offer letter.

Applicants must pay the minimum deposit stipulated in the offer letter by the date stated on the offer letter in order to secure their scholarship. In order to be eligible for the discount, applicants must progress onto one of the next two available intakes of the Masters award after graduation, i.e September or February. This also applies to postgraduate research and PhD courses and is available for the next 3 eligible intakes.

Applicants sponsored by a government, company or any third party organisation are not eligible for the discount. The Early Bird Discount is not available to applicants in receipt of the Progression Fee Discount and the discount would replace the standard International scholarship. Discounts may be withdrawn if conditions of the discounts are not adhere to.

5) Chevening Scholarships:

Chevening Scholars come from more than 150 countries and territories worldwide (excluding US and EU) and there are over 44,000 Chevening alumni around the world who together comprise an influential and highly regarded global network. Awards are typically for a one year Master’s degree at universities across the UK.

Chevening Scholarships are the UK government’s global scholarship program, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and partner organizations. The program awards scholarships to outstanding scholars with leadership potential from around the world to study one year postgraduate courses at universities in the UK.

6)Commonwealth Scholarships:

The Commonwealth Scholarships is an international program under which member Commonwealth governments offer scholarships to citizens of developing Commonwealth countries. Nearly 30,000 individuals have benefited from Commonwealth Scholarships since the program began in 1959. Around 900 scholarships are award in the UK each year.

Alumni of Commonwealth Scholarships form a community with wide interests and high achievements. The vast majority of award holders have returned to make a significant contribution to their home countries, in many cases at the highest level, making the award scheme one of the largest and most prestigious in the world.

Global Wales Postgraduate Scholarship

7) GLOBAL WALES POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME 2024:

Study in Wales are please to confirm a prestigious new scholarship program for international students wishing to study at a Welsh University in 2024. The Global Wales Postgraduate Scholarship Program 2024 is a fund by the Global Wales Program – a partnership between the Welsh Government, Universities Wales, The British Council and HEFCW, funds by Taith.

Scholarship Amount:

£10,000 

Payment will be via a tuition fee discount and is non-transferable. No cash alternative will be offer.

Number of Scholarships:

Three scholarships are available under this scheme through the University of South Wales.

Eligible Countries:

Vietnam, India, the USA, Canada and countries of the European Union. View the full list of countries here. 

Study Level:

Postgraduate Taught – A one year Masters course studied on a full time basis beginning in September 2024.

Eligibility:

Award of this scholarship is subject to the Eligibility Criteria as published on the Global Wales Scholarship website. It is important that you read these fully before submitting your application.

• Should have submitted an application to study at the University of South Wales for a Master’s program starting in 2024 before applying for the scholarship. click to apply to study at the University of South Wales.

• Candidate studying for a PhD, MPhil, Masters by Research, Graduate Diploma in Law, Postgraduate Diploma or Erasmus programs are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.

 Due to strict UK Visas and Immigration regulations, you must be able to show you have sufficient funds to cover the remainder of your tuition fees. • Successful candidates will have their tuition fee levied at enrolment. Candidates must confirm acceptance of their scholarship. Accept an offer of a place on a course and pay the deposit detailed in their offer.

• Scholarship holders, have accept an award, are reasonably expected to co-operate in the University of South Wales recruitment activities and automatically agree to their names and details being released by the University’s International Office for marketing purposes.
