Introduction:

The University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) was established in Beijing in 1958 as a strategic move to advance China’s scientific and technological capabilities. In 1970, the university moved its main campus to Hefei, Anhui Province. It was one of the first Chinese universities to focus on science and technology education. USTC has a rich history of contributions to scientific research and technological innovation. It has played a crucial role in various fields, including physics, chemistry, biology, computer science, and engineering. The university has produced many notable alumni who have made significant contributions to scientific advancements both in China and internationally. Over the years, USTC has grown into a comprehensive research university with a strong emphasis on fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. It continues to be a key institution in China’s efforts to promote scientific and technological development.

The University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) is a prominent Chinese research university located in Hefei, Anhui Province. It is renowned for its focus on science and technology education and has played a key role in China’s scientific and technological advancements. USTC is often considered one of the top universities in China.

USTC Fellowship Program:

USTC offers various scholarships to support international students pursuing undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees. These scholarships aim to attract outstanding students from around the world and promote academic exchange. Common USTC scholarships include:

Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC): This is a national scholarship program that supports international students studying in China. USTC usually allocates a portion of these scholarships to qualified applicants.

USTC Scholarship for International Students: USTC has its scholarship programs for outstanding international students, covering tuition, accommodation, and a stipend.

Provincial Government Scholarships: Anhui Provincial Government Scholarship is another option for international students at USTC. This scholarship may cover tuition fees or provide a stipend.

USTC Fellowship 2024: USTC is the first university that is offering fellowship for Undergraduates, Graduates and Post Graduates. We will discuss here each category in detail here.

USTC Fellowship program for Undergraduate:

USTC fellowship program for undergraduate has two categories and will be allotted to you on the base of your Evaluation:

1.Level A:

it Includes fully funded program with no tuition fee, Medical insurance , Accommodation and monthly stipend of 2500RMB.

2.Level B:

It includes only a Tuition fee waiver only, remaining costs will be covered by the Applicant him Self.

To apply you have to fill the online application form (Link Given Below). You can apply in both categories and the admission committee will decide that which category will be allotted to you.

Eligibility:

1.Non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport, in good physical and internal health

  1. Having passed new HSK Level 5 or over; aspirants whose native language is Chinese, or can give evidence of studying at a high academy where the teaching language is Chinese, can apply for HSK test impunity.
  2. Outsiders from landmass China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan applying as Foreign scholars must gain their current foreign citizenship before April 30th, 2020. In addition, the aspirant must live abroad for at least 2 times during the period between April 30th, 2020 and April 30th, 2024( further than 9 months of hearthstone abroad per time may be considered as one time)
  3. The conditions set by the Document No. 12( 2020) of Ministry of Education of the PRC( Annex I) should be met.
  4. aspirants must hold a high academy parchment( original to high academy parchment in China) by July of 2024. 6. aspirants must be under the age of 30 by September 1st, 2024. ※ For the graduates to gain their degrees in 2024, they should submit a Pre-graduation Certificate to ensure that they will complete their study and gain the degree by July of 2024. ※ aspirants who have been granted for other Chinese education or finances ( 2024- 2025 ) can not apply for this education.

Documents Requirement:

● Online Application Form for International Students( Undergraduate Program)

● Photocopy of passport( including runners with Chinese visa or hearthstone permit, if applicable)

● Inked photocopies of elderly high academy scale instrument and reiterations. aspirants who’ll be graduating from elderly high academy before July 2024 should give Pre-graduation Certificate issued by elderly high academy( Original elderly high academy scale instrument and reiterations are needed upon enrollment if get admitted).

● Photocopies of Certificate of new HSK Level 5 and reiterations( original instrument and reiterations are needed upon enrollment if get admitted); or a evidence of studying at a high academy where the tutoring language is Chinese.

● Outsider Physical Examination Form.

● Recommendation letter from elderly high academy( original dupe in Chinese or English)

● Aspirants under 18 by Sept. 1st, 2024 should submit a Guardian Statement( Annex IV). The guardian of the aspirant has to stay in Hefei during the period of aspirant’s studying at USTC. Whatever the guardian’s nation is, he or she must have a stable source of living.

● Outsiders from landmass China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan applying as transnational scholars should submit the following documents

  • Immigration instrument;
  • evidence of cancellation of the original Chinese citizenship;
  • Photocopy of the passport runners with customs prints( exit and entry) from April 30, 2020 to March 31, 2024;
  • evidence of living abroad from April 30, 2020 to March 31, 2024

*** Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with inked restatements in Chinese or English.

USTC Fellowship program for Graduates:

USTC fellowship program for graduates have two categories and will be allotted to you on the base of your Evaluation

1.Level A:

it Includes fully funded program with no tuition fee, Medical insurance , Accommodation and monthly stipend of 3000RMB.

2.Level B:

It includes only a Tuition fee waiver only, remaining costs will be covered by the Applicant him Self. Applicant can apply for Teacher assistantship after enrollment.

To apply you have to fill the online application form (Link Given Below). You can apply in both categories and the admission committee will decide that which category will be allotted to you.

Eligibility:

  1. Non-Chinese Nationals with a valid passport, in good health.
  2. Applicants for Graduate’s programs must have Undergraduate degree (equivalent to bachelor’s degree in China). 
  3. Applicants for Graduate programs should have maximum age limit of 35 by September 2024.
  4. Applicants for Graduate programs instructed in Chinese language should pass new HSK Level 4 or above; applicants whose original language is Chinese, or can provide proof of studying at a high school / university where the medium of instruction is Chinese, can apply for HSK test exemption. Applicants for graduate’s programs instructed in English need to provide English language proficiency certificate.
  5. Applicants should Fulfill the admission requirements for international students of USTC.
  6. Applicants cannot apply for another Scholarship during the period of study at USTC.

Documents Requirement:

● Photocopy of passport (validity of minimum one year)

●A research proposal (of minimum 800 words)

● Updated Curriculum Vitae in which your all details are mentioned.( Sample can be found here)

● letters of recommendation from the Professor of the institute you lastly attended.

● Medically fitness certificate from any foreign agency.

● Candidate for programs studied in Chinese must provide the photocopy of HSK certificate (at least level 4) or other proof of their Chinese language proficiency; Candidates for programs instructed in English must provide the photocopy of valid IELTS or TOEFL result or other proof of their English proficiency (except those whose mother tongue is English).

● Photocopy of degree certificate and academic transcripts for both Undergraduate Degree and Master’s Degree (if have) notarized by Higher Education or respective authority in your country.

* If candidates are university students, they must provide official Provisional certificate to prove their student status and degree completing timelines.

* If Candidates are already employed, they must provide official documents showing their status as on-post employees and permission to study by employer.

USTC Fellowship program for Doctoral Program :

USTC fellowship program for Doctoral studies have two categories and will be allotted to you on the base of your Evaluation.

1.Level A:

it Includes fully funded program with no tuition fee, Medical insurance , Accommodation and monthly stipend of 7000RMB.

2.Level B:

It includes only a Tuition fee waiver , Medical insurance , accommodation and a monthly stipend up to 3500 RMB.

3.Level C:

Its funded by USTC, tuition fee waiver . You can apply for Teaching Assistance or Research Assistance once you enrolled.

To apply you have to fill the online application form (Link Given Below). You can apply in both categories and the admission committee will decide that which category will be allotted to you.

Eligibility:

  1. Non-Chinese Nationals with a passport validity of minimum one year and will have in good health.
  2. Candidates for doctoral program must have master’s degree (equivalent to master’s degree in China). 
  3. Candidates for USTC Fellowship Level A for doctoral programs should have max age of 35 by September 2024. Applicants for USTC Fellowship Level B/C for doctoral programs should have max age of 40 by September 2024.
  4. Candidate for programs studied in Chinese must provide the photocopy of HSK certificate (at least level 4) or other proof of their Chinese language proficiency; Candidates for programs instructed in English must provide the photocopy of valid IELTS or TOEFL result or other proof of their English proficiency (except those whose mother tongue is English).
  5. Applicants should meet the admission criteria for international students of USTC.

Please note:

**Candidates currently enrolled in doctoral degrees at any university in China are NOT eligible for USTC Fellowship for doctoral programs.

* If candidates are university students, they must provide official Provisional certificate to prove their student status and degree completing timelines.
