Introduction:

The University of Oslo (UiO) is Norway’s oldest and largest university, established in 1811. It’s located in Oslo, the capital city of Norway. UiO is known for its research and education across a wide range of disciplines, including humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and medicine. It’s consistently rank among the top universities in the world. UiO offers numerous bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs, attracting students and researchers from all over the globe.

The university’s main campus is located in the city center of Oslo, near the Royal Palace and the Parliament of Norway. The campus is home to numerous faculties, departments, libraries, and research centers. In addition to the main campus, UiO has several other facilities and research stations across Norway. The university’s campus is situated in the heart of Oslo and provides a vibrant academic and cultural environment.

About University of Oslo Scholarships 2024:

The University of Oslo offers various scholarships and funding opportunities to support students in their academic pursuits. The current available scholarship is Bi President Scholarship 2024, Its for both International and National Students.

Norwegian and International Applicants who are residents of Norway:

 Scholarships will cover full tuition fees for each semester, for up to two years, if the student achieves the academic progression requirements.

Sivøk Applicants:

 Scholarships will cover full tuition fees for each semester, for up to two years, if the student achieves the academic progression requirements.

International Applicants:

 Scholarships will cover full tuition fees and a stipend for each semester, for up to two years, if the student achieves the academic progression requirements. The stipend is to assist with living expenses but does not cover all expenses (approximately 70%).

Eligibility:

In order to Eligible for University of Oslo you have to fulfill the below eligibility criteria:

  • Candidates must have a minimum overall GPA of ‘A’ on the ECTS scale or the equivalent top-level grade on international grade scales to be consider.
  • Students in the 3rd year of the Sivøk programme are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates with Norwegian citizenship or international citizenship from EU/EEA/Switzerland.
  • Citizens of countries from outside the EU/EEA who are residents of Norway may be eligible, depending on their residency status. Please see list on this webpage to determine eligibility. If you fall in this category, include documentation of residency with your scholarship application letter. 
  • International applicants (all citizenships) who moved to Norway for their bachelor studies and will complete a bachelor’s degree in Norway (full 180 ECTS) in spring of year of application. International applicants with citizenship from outside the EU/EEA must not have a break in studies between the completion of their bachelor’s degree and the commencement of their master’s degree.
  • Candidates admitted to a Master of Science degree programme at campus Oslo or campus Bergen, with the exception of the BI-Luiss Joint Masters in Marketing.

How to apply . . ?

  • Applications for scholarship are not accepted by email, with the exception of 3rd year Sivøk applicants (see below). 
  • Always apply for a scholarship at the same time as you apply for admission on the online application portal.
  • Write a scholarship application letter, maximum one-page, outlining why you should be consider for this scholarship. Scholarships awards arebase on academic merit, not on financial need.
  • Upload it to the section marked ‘Scholarship’ in your online application for admission.
  • Include all the require documentation to be evaluated for admission to a Master of Science programme. The scholarship application will only be consider if a complete application for admission has been submitted and the offer of admission is accepted.
  • BI students currently in their 3rd year of the Siviløkonom programme, can apply the spring of their 3rd year by sending a scholarship application letter to info@bi.no with the subject line: BI Presidential Scholarship Application
  • International applicants who apply for the BI Presidential Scholarship will also be consider for the MSc International Scholarship. A separate scholarship application letter is not require.

Selection Criteria:

The number of scholarship applications received from master’s applicants is far greater than the number of scholarships available. So below criteria is fallow:

  • Only applicants who have been admit to a Master of Science programme and have applied as instructed will be consider.
  • Scholarship applications will be consider only if the offer of admission has been accepted.
  • BI ensures distribution of scholarships across MSc programmes.
  • BI reserves the right to award scholarships according to institutional priorities which many include prioritizing specific master’s programmes, diversity and gender distribution, or selected partner schools of BI.
  • All candidates will be assess according to the ECTS scale. Applicants with international bachelor’s degrees will have their grades converted to the ECTS scale.
  • Other factors that may influence awarding could be other academic achievements, GMAT/GRE/CAT scores, extracurricular achievements, and special personal achievements.
  • International applicants who apply for the BI Presidential Scholarship will also be consider for the MSc International Scholarship.
